| Not long ago, a husband and wife team with a passion for the hospitality industry set out to start their own restaurant. After searching for a year, a quiet yet growing town caught their eye, complete with an older restaurant looking to change hands. The typical greasy spoon didn’t appeal to the couple, but a diner atmosphere coupled with homemade and flavorful food did. When referring to the soon-to-open restaurant, they would affectionately call it “The Diner” because of its old-time diner feel. After a while, the name stuck, and At The Diner was born. After sprucing things up with a clean design, some bold color and a little pop art, the 1950s diner look was geared for a new generation. At The Diner officially opened in February 2006, and has steadily grown through blending comfortable hospitality with fresh innovations and creativity. “Chef Len” Towne received the prestigious Culinary Arts and Hospitality Restaurant Management degree from the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute. His experience includes positions at some of the finest five-star resorts and Fortune 500 companies around the country, from Phoenix to Miami to Northern Michigan. Chef Len’s passion for innovation and commitment to quality will ensure that all your culinary needs are satisfied. If he hasn’t been around to introduce himself, make sure you ask for the Chef, because he loves to meet his guests. Owner Melissa Towne has spent the last decade mastering the skill of nearly every front-of-the- house position within the restaurant industry. After graduating from Hope College and studying in England, she embarked on a career that has polished her flair and honed her vision, including serving most recently as the General Manager of a local bistro. Her sincere desire is that she can attend to your every last detail—from delivering the finest afternoon tea service to creating the perfect menu and atmosphere for your catered event. Melissa brings a sassy, yet classy, persona to the restaurant by creating a diner with a spicy charisma. Together, they hope to offer you a truly memorable experience At The Diner. Whether you stop in for an early breakfast, a quick lunch on the go, or a relaxing dinner with family, you will be given a taste of exceptional quality and 1950s hospitality that will keep you coming back. |
